Why FSID was created
Ethiopia’s education systems have relied on fragmented local identifiers. FSID provides a lifelong Functional Student ID anchored to Fayda so each verified student has one durable education identity across enrolment, examinations, and further learning.
How it works
After consent, the portal verifies identity through Fayda. The backend then creates a new FSID or returns the existing one. FSID values are tokenized education identifiers — not the raw Fayda number.
Privacy and security
Fayda and student identity data are treated as sensitive. The portal minimizes what is stored, requires consent before verification, and does not expose Fayda numbers after submission. Privacy Policy
Future ecosystem
FSID is designed as a stable identity anchor for future connections to EMIS, examinations, placement, and lifelong learning services. Those integrations are out of scope for this first portal release.
